- UGUWANYI, EKWEREMADU COMMEND THE LAWMAKER.
In a bid to contribute in curbing the lingering security challenges in Nigeria and Enugu state, the Deputy Minority Leader house of representatives and member represents Anniri/Awgu/Orji River federal Constituency Rt. Hon.Toby Okechukwu has constructed from foundation the Department of the State Security (DSS) offices, and training ground for their activities in Awgu Local Governments Headquarters Enugu.
Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Sen.Ike Ekweremadu and others who was on ground to commission the project, commended him for such a magnificent and rare project he has done not for only the people of Awgu but the entire zone, stating that the DSS house will not only serve the people of Awgu but the entire zone.
This commendations they said is as a result of his various accomplishments , and laudable projects sponsored and attracted by him to his zone and even outside his zone which included the brand new built and completed DSS office and training house for the DSS personnel in the state.

The Director General Mr Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who was represented by H. M. DALUWA, fsi, mni , Director DSS Enugu who is also the host thanked the Honourable members of the house of representatives for their foresight towards realisation of the importance of security as it is the current challenge that is about to overwhelm the country.
stressing the need of formidable presence of security, he “said is the only development which could pave way for the smooth provisions towards promoting economic, religious and political running in any society.
“Socially, we have to bear in mind that, the functioning security and stability of peace and unity in our towns and villages depends largely on our collective ability to support and provide the security with enabling working environment,” he stated.
Stating that a security man feels inferior and feels defeated within himself sometimes because of the Environment he operates but the case of Awgu today is a clear difference.
“The people that are going to work here, i can assure you, will have confidence in themselves in discharging their duties.
He therefore stated that the people of Awgu will from now henceforth enjoy and feel the impact of security now more than ever before.
He further explained that the training school which was initially located around Enugu GRA before, but was compelled to be closed down by neighbours who complained that their training activities was disturbing them as their training has to do with a lot of noise and it was like a minus to enugu state an the entire southeast .
“And on behalf of my DG i assure you today, that the training school for the southeast will come back ” he stated .
Senator Ike Ekweremadu who also spoke during the commissioning, thanked the state government, the local government and of course the federal government for the huge cooperation among them,stating that the project was a huge success due to the collaborative effort of the local govt which is Awgu people, who provided the land, the state Governor who provided the enabling Environment and the federal who provided the resources .

He commended the Rep for this giant project and noted with surprised ” the kind of magnificent project iam seeing today , i must say,am impressed . I thought we were going to see one structure, one building but what we have here today is more than a local government office i believe it will cover the zone entirely” he stated.

While he noted some of the projects and facilities he has done for the security agencies, he urged the DSS personnel to please ensure that they discharge thier duties diligently in securing lives and properties.
Appreciating His excellency Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Senator Ike Ekweremadu and other guests present at the commissioning, Hon. Toby Okechukwu equally commended the Executive Governor of Enugu state Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his swift response when they had issue regarding the land, “the governor gave a marshal instruction that it should be done, so we thank the governor for his foresight in sustaining peace”
He also thanked the former Deputy president of the senate who he said is an examplary leader, who also in the same spirit with him in tackling insecurity has also volunteered development center he has built in the four different local government to security agencies for their trainings.
He further appealed to the the leadership of the local government council including the legislature and all those who inhabits or work there to ensure the protection and good neighbourliness of those who are going to work at the New DSS office.
According to him, his prayer is that, this project will be put in good use so that the people can reap the intention and presence of this facility.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Governor who was ablely representated by the Commissioner for Evironment Enugu state Hon Chijoke Edeoga, during his addresss appreaciated the director general of DSS and urged him to do the needful by deploying his men to the new office to help to protect the lives of the people.
“DSS we appreciate your presence in the midst of our people, we appeal to you to do the needful on behalf of our peopl, on behalf of humanity to deploy your men here to help protect lives and properties of our people” he stated
Hon Edeoga also applauded Okechukwu for all his achievements so far he said “there has been this robust relationship between me and Okechukwu , Am not surprise that he has done this and other things he is doing every where because senator ike Ekweremadu is an iconic representative of his people and Honourable Toby is an able student, with first class following the footsteps of our master in the outright of using the power of the parliament to do the work of parliament , representation and other things a parliamentarian should do.
While commissioning the project , Hon Edeoga
Reassured that his administration would continue to support the agency both prompt response to their call when ever the need be.
“We are fully ready to help at any point you call on us, the Governor is ready and willing to support the Agency.
