UNN VICE CHANCELLOR LAUDS ENUGU REP OKECHUKWU OVER INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTS

The Vice Chancellor University  of Nigeria  Nsukka Charles A. Igwe, FAS has lauded the deputy minority  leader of the house of representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu over infrastructural developments during the celebration  of the 49th convocation  ceremony of the university held at the University .

The vice Chancellor  in his opening address, identified the Honourable  member  representing  Anniri/Awgu/Orji River federal  constituency  Toby Okechukwu  as one of the friend of the university  who has contributed  so much to the school infrastructural development.

He commended  the act of benevolence of the Hon who he said single handedly funding the rehabilitation of toilets and  bathroom   for the students  in their school hostels.

” iam quite grateful to Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, who is funding the rehabilitation of the convenience and bathroom in the students hostels” he said

Reacting to this, Hon Toby Okechukwu who spoke to UGAMATV attested that  he  renovated the  toilets and bathroom  for the students  in the school hostel as it is one of his cardinal responsibilities to ensure that student have good enabling  environment for habitation.

“We have taken the responsibility  to make sure the students  have a very comfortable  accommodation and this leads to the renovating of hostels toilets and we ensured that the water supply is was made  adequate

 “It was not fashionable for our students  to use nylon and go to toilets  and go discard it in the bushes  around.

“We decided  to renovate  the place and we have made sure that we have people who will keep the place clean  we don’t  want our children  to grow without  having  the full knowledge  of a good toilet  system looks like. It  is part and parcel of training” he stated.

The vice Chancellor  during the convocation  and confernment of honorary  Doctorate Degree to some eminent and distinguished  Nigerians  who have excelled  in their  chosen careers and distinguished  themselves  in their services to the country and humanity    Congratulated the Graduands and assured  them of a greater and prosperous years ahead them.

The event  which featured  a lecture from the former Governor  of River State, Honorable Minister of Transportation federal  Republic  of Nigeria  His Excellency  RT Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was highly  attended by very profiled individuals in the country.

Those who were conferred  Honorary  awards includes:  Alhaji  (Dr) Mohammed Indimi, the chairman  and CEO of Oriental Energy,  Doctor of Business Administration.  Mrs Nnenna MaryAnn Obiejesi, the Group Executive  Director,  Administration and Corporate  Services Obijackson Group of Companies Doctor of Business Administration. Engineer Anthony Uzoma Oguike,the MD/CEO of the future concerns Group , Lagos  also Doctor of Business  Administration. The Doctor of letters  (Honoris causa) will  also be conferred  on Professor Jacob Olupona, a professor  of African and African  American  studies at Harvard University. 

The event which was highly attended by very profiled individual  in the country also featured a lecture from the former Governor  of River State, Honorable Minister of Transportation federal  Republic  of Nigeria  His Excellency  RT Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
