Husband and one other arrested in Kano for beating man to d3ath over allegation of enticing his wife

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three persons over the m8rder of a 30-year-old man.

 

 

 

The suspects, Abubakar Ali, Sulaiman Lawan and Hafsat Umar were arrested on July 24, 2026 in the Sheka area of the state.

 

 

 

The spokesperson for the command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, July 27 said the suspects allegedly lured the deceased to a location where they brutally assaulted him over allegation of enticing Ali’s wife, Hafsat Umar.

 

 

 

Kiyawa said they received a report about the incident and officers from the Sheka Police Division were promptly deployed.

 

 

 

Upon arrival, officers found the man severely assaulted and in a coma.

 

 

 

Auwal was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where the doctor on duty later confirmed his d3ath.

 

 

 

His remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, and inquiries by the police are ongoing.

 

 

 

The statement said the suspects will be arraigned once the investigation is complete.

 

 

 

The State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the k!lling and warned citizens against taking justice into their own hands, stressing that the Nigeria Police Force has the constitutional authority to investigate, arrest and prosecute suspects through due process.

 

 

 

“On 24th July, 2026 at about 1200hrs, a report was received at Sheka Division that one Abubakar Auwal ‘m’, 30 years, was allegedly lured by Abubakar Ali ‘m’ 40 years old, and one Sulaiman Lawan, ‘m’, 27 years old, and other persons over an allegation of enticing married woman, the wife of Abubakar Ali,” the statement read

 

 

 

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to Sheka Police Division were immediately detailed to the scene.

 

 

 

“On arrival, the victim was found to have been brutally assaulted and beaten into a comatose state.

 

 

 

“Three (3) suspects, the above mentioned two and the married woman, Hafsat Umar, 22 years old, of the same address were arrested at the scene.

 

 

 

“The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano for medical treatment, where he was unfortunately confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

 

 

 

“The corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

 

 

 

“Investigation into the matter is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.”
