Toyota Motor Show Inspires Young Innovators with Debate, Quiz Competitions

Toyota Nigeria Limited placed young innovators at the centre of attention on the second day of its ongoing Toyota Motor Show in Lagos, hosting a debate and quiz competition aimed at promoting automotive innovation and encouraging interest in technology-driven mobility solutions.

The youth-focused event, held at The Podium in Lekki, attracted students and young professionals who demonstrated impressive analytical skills, creativity and knowledge in contests that captivated participants and spectators alike.

A major highlight of the day was the debate competition, where two teams engaged in a keenly contested intellectual battle. The participants impressed judges with their confidence, eloquence and ability to present compelling arguments.

At the end of the contest, Team A, comprising Robinson Goodness, Esabu Blessing and Igbayisemore Tony, emerged winners after edging out Team B, made up of Akinware Breakthrough, Yusuf Rahimat and Dawn Ijaware.

The winning team received a cash prize of N600,000, while the runners-up were rewarded with N300,000.

The quiz competition also generated excitement as six contestants competed across multiple rounds of questions centred on general knowledge and automotive topics. Following several elimination rounds, the competition narrowed to a thrilling final stage focused on Toyota vehicle models and automotive expertise.

Feyisetan Tolase Emmanuel emerged overall winner, earning a cash prize of N250,000, while Ayorinde Bolarinwa finished second and received N150,000.

Award-winning actress and social advocate, Kate Henshaw, who chaired the panel of judges, commended the contestants for their outstanding performances, describing their confidence, intelligence and creativity as encouraging signs for the future.

She noted that innovation and knowledge remain essential tools for national development and expressed optimism about the potential of young Nigerians.

Also speaking, Toyota Nigeria Limited’s Head of Dealer Development and Special Duties, Henry Ojuoko, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing future innovators and expanding opportunities for youth engagement in technology and mobility.

According to him, Toyota’s vision extends beyond vehicle sales to inspiring curiosity, innovation and problem-solving among young people.

The second day of the exhibition was specifically dedicated to students and young professionals as part of efforts to stimulate conversations around the future of transportation and increase awareness of emerging automotive technologies.

The programme also featured television personality, actor and brand influencer Soma Anyama, popularly known as Soma, who participated in interactive sessions alongside Toyota representatives.

Now in its third edition, the Toyota Motor Show began on June 2 and offers visitors opportunities to explore the company’s latest vehicle models, participate in test drives, engage in interactive discussions and access complimentary vehicle diagnostic services.

Attendees also experienced Toyota’s mobility solutions through test drives of selected models, including the Camry, RAV4 and Hilux.

The exhibition will conclude on Saturday with a live recording of Toyota’s PodCARst featuring social media influencer Ride With Mee, alongside entertainment activities, outdoor games, prizes and additional test-drive experiences.

Toyota Nigeria said the event reflects its commitment to strengthening customer engagement and promoting innovation, education and meaningful interaction with the brand.
