Suspected kidnappers have abducted Nelson Adepoyigi, the Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening at Adepoyigi’s residence along the Ifon-Owo Road. Community sources confirmed that the abductors have reached out to his family, demanding a ransom of N100 million for his release.
The abduction has heightened fears among residents of the agrarian community, who have voiced concerns over the growing insecurity in the Ose and Owo local government areas.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command stated that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the victim. Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, assured the public that security operatives are actively pursuing the suspects.
According to Ayanlade, “The chairman of APC Ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo Road. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Ifon, in coordination with local hunters, vigilantes, and Nigerian Army personnel, has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.”
