Nigerians Fear Tax Looters, Not Paying Taxes — Ugezu

Nollywood filmmaker Ugezu J. Ugezu has said that Nigerians are not opposed to paying taxes but are concerned about how public funds are managed.

Speaking in a video shared on his Facebook page, Ugezu argued that many citizens would willingly fulfil their tax obligations if they could clearly see how the revenue is being used to improve lives and develop the country.

According to him, the major concern among Nigerians is the alleged mismanagement and diversion of public funds, rather than the introduction of new tax policies.

He stressed that public confidence would increase if those found guilty of looting government funds were held accountable and punished in accordance with the law.

Ugezu added that greater transparency and visible development funded by tax revenue would encourage more Nigerians to pay their taxes willingly.
