Nearly ten years after she was bound, held at gunpoint, and robbed of millions in jewelry, Kim Kardashian is set to return to Paris to testify in the trial of the men accused of orchestrating the high-profile heist.
The reality star and entrepreneur—one of the world’s most recognizable figures—is expected to deliver emotional testimony on Tuesday against 10 defendants linked to the 2016 robbery that left her locked in a marble bathroom while masked assailants escaped with over $6 million worth of jewels.
Kardashian is expected to recount the traumatic incident that profoundly altered her life and redefined the conversation around celebrity safety in the social media era. Her appearance is anticipated to be the most emotionally charged moment of the trial, which began last month.
Court officials are preparing for a large turnout, with tight security measures in place. A second courtroom has been set up to accommodate journalists via video feed.
Her testimony is likely to revisit harrowing details of the night: how intruders zip-tied her hands, demanded her engagement ring, and left her fearing she might never see her children again.
Of the original 12 suspects charged in connection with the robbery, one has died and another has been excused due to serious illness. The remaining defendants, most in their 60s and 70s, have been dubbed les papys braqueurs—“the grandpa robbers”—by the French press. However, investigators describe them not as harmless retirees but as part of a seasoned and highly coordinated criminal group.
