The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Trans Amadi Branch, has reiterated its dedication to industrial safety and sustainable engineering practices through the donation of critical safety equipment to the TURN Plastic Recycling Plant in Port Harcourt.
The gesture, carried out as part of the branch’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to promote safer working conditions while supporting innovative projects that contribute to environmental protection and sustainability.
Speaking during the handover, the Chairman of NSE Trans Amadi Branch, Jonathan Francis, emphasised that safety remains a core priority of the branch. He encouraged the plant’s management to uphold a strong “safety first” culture and assured them of the branch’s continued technical support.
Francis noted that the branch is committed to backing organisations that make tangible contributions to environmental sustainability, adding that the TURN Plastic Recycling Plant plays a vital role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through efficient recycling processes.
Receiving the safety kits on behalf of TURN Plastic management, Emeka Onyeka expressed appreciation to the NSE for honouring its commitment to technical partnership. He said the donation reinforces the company’s determination to sustain high safety standards across its operations.
The TURN Plastic Recycling Plant is a collaborative CSR project involving TotalEnergies EP Nigeria, NNPC Limited, and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The facility has the capacity to recycle more than 1,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by over 750 tonnes each year—an environmental impact comparable to planting about 4,500 trees.
