Funmi Adelakun, the 37-year-old daughter of veteran Nigerian gospel singer and televangelist Joseph Adelakun, has publicly accused her father of maltreatment and restricting her freedom.
In a video shared on social media, Funmi appealed to the public to intervene, alleging that she has been closely monitored for years and pleading with her father to allow her live independently.
According to reports, Funmi recently left her family home in Lagos before releasing the emotional video.
“I need my freedom. Please help me beg my father to set me free. What is happening is very deep. They should stop monitoring me and trying to have access to everything about me. This has been going on for a long time, and I will explain better soon,” she said.
As of the time of filing this report, Joseph Adelakun had not publicly responded to the allegations or reacted to requests for comment.
