Award-winning Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has credited her remarkable success in the Nigerian film industry to hard work, dedication and years of personal sacrifice.

Speaking in a recent interview, the record-breaking filmmaker said her consistent success at the box office is a result of giving her all to her craft and remaining fully committed to her work.

Akindele disclosed that she devoted so much time to filmmaking that she often neglected herself, rarely attended social events and only styled her hair for important occasions such as red-carpet appearances.

Reflecting on her journey, she said she eventually realised she had spent years prioritising work over self-care despite receiving compliments about her appearance.

According to the actress, she immersed herself in research, writing and film production, sacrificing her personal time to build a successful career.

She added that she is only now beginning to focus more on herself through skincare and personal wellness after years of relentless work.

Akindele noted that the sacrifices paid off, pointing to the commercial success of her latest movie, Behind the Scene, which she said grossed ₦2.7 billion at the box office.
