There has been this  Controversies and  reactions emanating  from the proposed Ifemelumma  Unity rally aired on Solid Fm radio station on the  programme titled “Freedom square” on Saturday

Just  like  Odimma  Nsukka Unity rally of Enugu North Senatorial district and Oganiru  Enugu East  mega rally of Enugu East Senatorial district came with different slogans and interpretations all working towards  2023 Gubernatorial Enugu election.

Also some political  group in  Enugu west Senatorial district  has also proposed  a unity rally slogans “Ifemelumma Enugu west unity rally”  a slogan many has thought will mean to  address the present  agitations from the zone for Gubernatorial seat 2023 but reverse seems   the case.

It has become very controversial and contradicting  that even though the political group  throws it weight  on zoning but still stated that the rally is geared towards supporting  the Governor  on his choice of successor  stating that “wherever the governor stands, there we will also stand. Ife Emelu Mmma says, wherever the governor goes, we will support him. If he goes to Udenu to pick a candidate, we will follow him willingly”. They stated.

The group  expressed its readiness to support the emergence of  an indigene of Udenu, the incumbent governor’s Local Government Area, as the next governor of the state if Governor ifeanyi Ugwuanyi anoints his successor from the area.

Speaking at the programme, the Secretary-General of  Ifemelumma organizjng Committee Dr. Eric Oluedo, had earlier  stated that it was a  tradition for governors of Enugu State to anoint their successors.

“Though it is the turn of  Enugu East  to occupy  the lion building  but it is left for  the Governor  to  chose  the zone or the person to go into the lion building

“wherever  the Governor stand, there we stand,   even if the Governor goes  back to his zone or local government, we will go with him” 

The Deputy secretary  general, Hon. Ndubisi Eneh  also stated that the Governor is the embodiments of the consciousness of the people. Stressing that a leader gives a direction based on the consciousness of the people then it goes to the larger community where elections are conducted

Accoding to him “Ugwuanyi having been elected on a popular mandate like his predecessors, Ugwuanyi reserved the right to anoint his successor from any zone he wishes” claming that ex-governors Chimaroke Nnamani and Sullivan Chime, did in anoint Chime and Ugwuanyi, respectively.

These are the thoughts of Ndi Enugu during the programme, while some blasted the organisers  of the rally for taking such a stand and decision of professing to support the Governor on whoever he choose to succeed  him even as far as going  back to Udenu some where saying whatever that   is good should  be done to bring Good Governance to the people.

“It complicating that the Ifemelumma group is talking about rotation  at the same time saying they will support the governor  to any zone he goes to  appoint his successor 

“It is indeed funny that while other zones are  clamouring for the Gubernatorial positions,  here comes Enugu west supporting other zone to the position” Uche from Enugu.

Caller Onuchukwu  Ogbuefi  warned against  sycophanncy when it comes to  the issue of politics urging the Ifemelumma group to take precaution of whatever they are saying  stressing  that ” the decision  taken by the group is  not favourable to them yet they are on it”  

Dr Augustine Okoli also reacted, refering to all of them as agents of the government  ” all of them are in  government they came together   in the  house Senator  Hyde Onuaguluchi   to produce a communique  therby Campaigning against  their own people , i can now know the Governor is now the state and the sate is the Governor ” he stated.
