Price War Heats Up: Filling Stations Adjust Petrol Rates Amid Market Stability

Nigerian filling stations reduced their petrol price to attract patronage.

Checks on Friday showed that Nigerian filling stations in Abuja and environs dropped to N1,295 per liter, down from N1,330.

This means that the fuel price was adjusted by N35 per liter. UGAMATV reports that the latest fuel price reductions have been reflected in AA Rano, Ranoil, and Mobil filling stations across different locations in Abuja.

The price review is competitive with major players in the country’s petroleum downstream sector, such as Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, MRS, AP Ardova, and NIPCO, which have been dispensing petrol at a rate of N1290 to N1295 for weeks.

Reacting, the president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Maigandi, stated that the recent downward adjustment in petrol prices by some filling stations is aimed at boosting patronage.

“It is required to boost patronage,” he said

UGAMATV reports fuel prices have been relatively stable since April 9, 2026, despite crude oil volatility caused by the Iran-United States war in the Middle East.

Friday’s crude oil price data showed that West Texas Intermediate and Brent Blends stood at $94 and $105 per barrel due to Strait of Hormuz opening uncertainty.
