Police Nab 35-Year-Old Suspect in Murder of 22-Year-Old Housewife

 

The Kano State Police Command says its personnel has arrested the principal suspect involved in the killing of a 22-year-old housewife.

Mrs. Rumaisa Haruna was murdered in her matrimonial home at Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Farawa Quarters, Kano, on April 6, 2025.

She was reportedly discovered by her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, in a pool of blood with severe injuries on her neck. She was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

In a statement on Tuesday, the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said a suspect, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, 35, who resides at Madatai Quarters, was apprehended on Friday following weeks of intensive investigation backed by intelligence.

The statement further disclosed that the arrested suspect has confessed to the murder of the housewife, saying that he strangled and stabbed her in the neck, leading to her death.

The statement further disclosed that the suspect is in police custody while investigation continues, to unravel any possible accomplices or motives behind the killing.

The police said the suspect would be charged in court as soon as the investigation was concluded.

Commending the swift action and professionalism of the investigators, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, in the statement expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the case and reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to their safety.

“The Commissioner urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement emphasized.
