The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Jatau, has died after a brief illness.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday, disclosing that the commissioner passed away in Abuja.
Until his death, Professor Jatau was credited with spearheading several initiatives aimed at improving food security, increasing agricultural productivity and empowering farmers across Adamawa State.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri described the late commissioner as a loyal, dedicated and accomplished public servant who made significant contributions to the development of the state’s agricultural sector.
According to the governor, Jatau successfully brought his vast academic experience into public service, where he worked diligently to improve the lives of the people.
“Professor Jatau was a man of intellect, integrity and service. He brought his wealth of knowledge from the ivory tower into government and deployed it diligently for the growth of our agricultural sector and the well-being of our people,” the governor said.
The governor extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, friends, colleagues and the people of Adamawa State, describing his death as a great loss to the state.
