PDP Membership: Ugochinyere Says Not Yet Ready to Take a Stand

The member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere has bared his mind concerning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He said he is still monitoring development in the party before taking the next step.

The Federal lawmaker made his position known while speaking with journalists at the Imo State NUJ Press Centre in Owerri.

Ugochinyere said that for the moment, he is much preoccupied in delivering the legislative mandate given to him by the people who own his political future.

He added that it was too early to begin talking about party politics when there were more important issues facing his constituency.

Ugochinyere, however, asserted that he is not comfortable with the happenings in PDP.

The Ideato representative maintained that he is being guided by his peoples’ advice to focus on his legislative duties before any other thing.

On the state of his constituency, the lawmaker lamented that his people were facing two major problems, erosion and insecurity with no serious commitment on the side of the government to find lasting solutions to them.

He cried out that his people were at the verge of going into extinction if nothing urgent happened to salvage the situation.

The Rep lamented that virtually all communities in his Constituency were facing environmental disaster.

On the recent killing of innocent citizens in his constituency, the lawmaker decried the situation, blaming it on lack of adequate internal security, which he maintained is the best way to curtail security threat.

Ugochinyere hinted that if local vigilante groups were well funded by the government, the situation could not have gotten to the present situation.

He also accused Local Council Chairmen of not residing in their respective areas, thereby creating rooms for unguided elements to unleash mayhem on innocent people.
