BREAKING: Enugu ADC Shuts Down Defection Rumours, Declares Total Loyalty, Endorses Ocho for 2027 Governorship Race

The Enugu State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly dismissed widespread reports suggesting a mass defection following alleged exits of key national figures, declaring instead a united, resolute, and unshaken front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded statement issued by the ADC Council of Elders and Stakeholders in Enugu State, the party leadership and grassroots structures reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the ADC, insisting that “we are intact” and not aligning with any other political platform.

The declaration comes amid growing speculation surrounding the alleged departure of prominent political figures, including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, from the party.

However, the Enugu ADC leadership emphasized that such developments have no bearing on its stability or direction. “We remain firmly and irrevocably in ADC,” the statement reiterated, underscoring a collective resolve among Ward Chairmen, Polling Unit Agents, Local Government Executives, and State Officers across the state.

The party further pledged loyalty to its national leadership, aligning with the outcome of the Supreme Court judgment of April 30, 2026, and expressing readiness to work in synergy with National Chairman, David Mark, and National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, toward securing electoral victories in 2027.

At the state level, the Council passed a resounding vote of confidence on State Chairman, Chris Eze, praising his leadership and that of the State Executive Committee for maintaining cohesion and direction within the party.

In a decisive political move, the stakeholders unanimously endorsed Chief Obodeze Ocho as the ADC’s preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Enugu State. The Council urged him to immediately obtain the party’s nomination form, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity and vision for good governance.

The statement also highlighted a strategic push to reinforce grassroots structures, directing all 17 Local Government Area chairmen, 260 Ward Chairmen, and executives across 4,145 polling units to intensify mobilization, harmonization, and membership drive efforts.

“No distraction. No defection. One mission — ADC victory in 2027,” the statement concluded.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the three zonal vice chairmen: Prince Kingsley Acharabagu (Enugu North), Engr. Okorie Obinna Calistus (Enugu East), and Ozo Kosi Odumugbo (Enugu West), signaling a unified front across the state’s political zones.

As political realignments continue to shape Nigeria’s pre-2027 landscape, the ADC in Enugu has drawn a clear line — loyalty, structure, and strategy over speculation.
