The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has approved and awarded 280 projects under the Ecological Fund Office to improve the living standards of people across communities in the country.

Mustapha said the intervention projects were awarded across the country in five years

He made this known in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, after he inaugurated and handed over two projects executed by the EFO under the Presidency.

The ecological intervention projects are the erosion control and rehabilitation of the 18.8 kilometre Hong-Garaha road as well as a road and storm water drainage at the Federal College of Education, Yola.

He said, “Under President Muhammadu Buhari, 280 funded ecological interventions have been approved and awarded in the last five years, out of which 210 have been completed and handed over to the communities for their use; the remaining 80 are at different levels of execution.

The Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, Dr Habiba Lawal, said the SGF played key roles in initiating the 18.8km Hong-Garaha road project through a request for an urgent intervention to arrest the continuous erosion, flooding and other ecological challenges affecting his Garaha community in the Hong Local Government Area.

Lawal added that the projects were among 18 ecological projects approved by the President for the first quarter of 2018 and awarded by the Federal Executive Council on August 8, 2018.
