The Southern Senators Forum Have thrown their full weight behind the resolutions of southern governors to address critical issues that affects national growth and development.

The Southern Senators Also urged the governors to Follow Through With Their Demands and even approach the national Assembly For Legislative Backing.

Chairman Of The Southern Senators Forum, Sen, Opeyemi Bamidele Speaking With Tijesu  Adeoye Of The Hallowed Chambers Said, “I guess we are at a point in the life of our country where all hands must be on deck for us to not only safe guard our people,  but saving lives and properties also stabilizes our economy.”

“You can not talk of this in a situation of insecurity, we all m just work together, it is unfortunate that some people are still seing it as ab out the North or South, East or West, we are past that.”

“This is about Nigeria. when any part of Nigeria is in crisis, the hole country is too. We are so happy that the southern governors have come together to take a position. their counterparts in the North have held several meetings as norther governors forum.”

“Using that platform to be able to pull certain positions. in any way we could be able to support their posits, the national assembly will always offer that support.” 

“It is good that the southern governors also came together to take some far rooting positions, The southern senators have considered this and we know that they are on the right side of the history. they are on the side of the people, and we will do everything possible to work with them because the issues that they are raising are issues that border on a review of our laws, the extent laws of the country and constitution as presently exists.”

“Along with our other colleagues, from the northern part of the country to ensure that we are able to rework our constitution, the way that can guarantee the security of lives and properties in this country.”

CITIZENS, CIVIL SOCIETY, ORGANIZATIONS, PROFESSIONAL BODIES AND GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONARIES WILL GET TO JOIN AND PARTICIPATE IN SENATE ZONAL PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ALTERATION ON THE PROVISIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES WILL BE DELIBERATED IN THIS HEARING, RANGING FROM GENDER EQUALITY TO THE LEGISLATURE AND LEGISLATIVE BUREAUCRACY, ELECTORAL REFORMS, ESTABLISHMENT OF STATE POLICE, AMONG OTHER THINGS.

IT IS HOPED THAT THE PROCESS OF THESE ALTERATIONS WILL ADDRESS ANY AGITATIONS THAT HAS FRAYED NERVES OF CITIZENS AN D DIFFERENT GROUPS IN THE COUNTRY.
