U-17 WWCQ: Flamingos to face Benin in final round

Nigeria’s Flamingos will face Benin Republic in the final qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

 

 

 

The Flamingos, led by coach Akeem Busari, demolished Guinea 11-0 on aggregate in the second round of qualifiers.

 

 

 

After recording a comfortable 5-0 victory in the first leg, Nigeria sealed qualification with an emphatic 6-0 win over Guinea at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

 

 

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who also scored in the first leg in Abidjan, grabbed a brace, opening the scoring in the ninth minute before adding her second in the 32nd minute.

 

 

 

 

Captain, Chidi Harmony also continued her fine form with two goals, scoring in the 21st and 34th minutes. Queen Joseph added another goal in the 23rd minute, while Precious Oscar completed the rout with the sixth goal in the 70th minute.

 

 

Benin Republic booked their place in the final round after securing a 5-1 aggregate victory over Sierra Leone.The Amazons won the first leg 3-0 at home before sealing qualification with a 2-1 away victory in the return fixture.

 

 

 

 

The first-leg matches in the final round are scheduled for July 3–5, while the return legs will take place from July 10–12.

 

The four winners from the final qualifying round will represent Africa at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup later in the year.
