Youths Rescue Man Chained by Father in Anambra, for Years

Tension gripped Igboukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area after youths rescued a man allegedly chained and confined in a room by his father, who had falsely claimed the young man had travelled abroad.

The victim, identified as Chogbo but popularly known as Agudo, was freed after community youths grew suspicious and stormed his father’s residence, where they discovered him in chains. A video of the dramatic rescue has since gone viral on social media.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the victim has been rescued and is receiving medical care.

He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter to establish the facts and ensure justice.

“Preliminary inquiries are ongoing to safeguard the victim’s well-being, and where culpability is established, those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with the law,” Ikenga stated.

The police further commended the proactive role played by the youths of Igboukwu in exposing the crime, describing it as a clear example of community partnership in policing.

The Command assured that further updates on the investigation will be made public as it progresses.
