Mgbowo, Awgu LGA — In another bold stride towards improving the quality of life for residents of Awgu Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Uche Okolo, has extended his “Portable Water for All” initiative to Ndiulo Imeama, Ekpulato Autonomous Community, Mgbowo Ward, with drilling works officially underway.

The project, which brings renewed hope to the people of Mgbowo, forms part of Hon. Okolo’s comprehensive vision to ensure sustainable access to clean and safe water across all Awgu communities. So far, the initiative has successfully delivered over 14 solar-powered boreholes across different communities in the LGA, transforming lives and addressing long-standing water scarcity challenges.

Hon. Okolo reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to grassroots development and emphasized his alignment with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for an inclusive and progressive Enugu State.

“Clean and safe water should never be a privilege but a basic right for every household. This project is a clear demonstration of our resolve to complement Governor Peter Mbah’s developmental agenda and to ensure that Awgu LGA sets the pace in rural infrastructural transformation,”
he stated.

The commencement of the Mgbowo drilling project comes just a day after Hon. Okolo flagged off the 3.5-kilometer Awgu–Ugwueme Road Project, leading to the Ugwueme Smart Green School. This road project is expected to enhance connectivity, boost economic activities, and ease access to one of the region’s major educational hubs.

Community leaders, stakeholders, and residents have applauded Hon. Okolo’s administration for its inclusive, transparent, and people-centered governance, describing his leadership as “a true testament to good governance and rural transformation.”
