The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday issued a stern warning to the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, threatening to terminate his appointment if refuse along the Apo–Karshi corridor is not cleared by Monday or Tuesday.
The warning came during Wike’s inspection of ongoing road projects across the Karu, Karshi, Bwari, and Kubwa areas, where he reviewed progress on presidential directives aimed at upgrading infrastructure in satellite towns.
Responding to journalists’ questions about heaps of refuse obstructing the roads leading to Karshi, the minister expressed displeasure and said he was already considering disciplinary action.
“You’ve said exactly what I was about to raise. If by Monday I still see that refuse, I will not hesitate to terminate the appointment of the STDD coordinator,” Wike stated.
Wike immediately summoned Zulkiflu during the inspection and addressed him directly, expressing frustration over the situation.
“If I still see this refuse from Orozo to Apo–Karshi by Monday or Tuesday, your job will be terminated. Do whatever it takes to ensure it is cleared. This is unacceptable and embarrassing. These areas are no longer villages—development has taken over,” he said.
Addressing the media afterward, the minister assured residents that the refuse would be cleared promptly, stressing that the administration would not tolerate environmental neglect in the FCT.
