Ogun Police Impound Six Vehicles, Clear Illegal Structures in Traffic Bust

About six vehicles have been impounded by men of the Ogun State Police Command for violation of traffic regulations in the Sango-Ota area of the state.

The operatives also removed shanties and cleared illegal structures obstructing road setbacks and contributing to persistent traffic congestion.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Monday.

According to the statement, the seizures were made during the command’s operation “No Traffic Gridlock” held in Sango Ota and Ijebu Ode Toll Gate axis of the state.

The statement reads, “In the Sango Ota corridor, coordinated night operations were carried out, led by the Area Commander, Sango Ota, to remove shanties and clear illegal structures obstructing road setbacks and contributing to persistent traffic congestion.

“In addition, early morning enforcement operations commencing as early as 0500hrs led to the clearance of major obstruction points and the impoundment of six (6) vehicles found in violation of traffic regulations.

“The area has since witnessed improved traffic flow, while sustained monitoring continues.

“Similarly, the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate axis was sanitised through sustained enforcement operations led by the Area Commander, Ijebu Ode, targeted at indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks and roadside trading along the highway.

“The coordinated intervention resulted in the systematic clearance of truck build-ups and removal of obstructions, leading to significant improvement in vehicular movement within the axis. Continuous monitoring and compliance enforcement remain in place to sustain the gains achieved.”

The Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining the operation until full compliance and seamless traffic flow are achieved across all affected corridors.

He warned that illegal parking, roadside trading, and obstruction of highways will not be tolerated, adding that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
