The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has revealed that his failure to join the Nigerian Army led him into the legal profession.
Gbajabiamila, who is also a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, made the disclosure while addressing a group of soldiers in a video that surfaced on Friday.
According to him, his physical attributes, including height, weight, and strength, disqualified him from being enlisted into the military, despite his strong admiration for the armed forces.
“Honestly, my height, my weight, my strength, everything disqualified me. Every time I attempted, I looked at the person to my right and the person to my left, nobody needed to tell me to go home,” he said.
He described members of the Nigerian military as an inspiration, noting that their service motivates Nigerians to strive for excellence.
Gbajabiamila added that after his failed attempts to join the Army, he chose a different career path:
“It was when I could not join the military that I went and became a bloody lawyer. God bless you.”
While he could not fulfill his aspiration of wearing the military uniform, Gbajabiamila said his admiration for the armed forces remains strong, stressing that their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire him and many Nigerians.
