Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued one victim and recovered ammunition following a deadly attack in Riyom Local Government Area.

The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on April 6, 2026, in DUM village, Bachi District, when troops on routine patrol responded to distress calls from the community.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that upon arrival, the troops launched a coordinated search and rescue operation, successfully saving one victim. Tragically, another victim was found deceased at the scene.

During the operation, operatives also recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorcycle believed to be linked to the attackers.

“Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators, while patrols have been intensified across the area to prevent further attacks,” a security source said.

Authorities emphasized that the increased military presence is part of broader efforts to restore peace and enhance security in affected communities.
