President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated the Super Falcons in grand style, awarding them national honours, luxury homes, and generous cash gifts following their historic 10th WAFCON title win in Morocco.
At a colourful reception held at the State House in Abuja, the President conferred the title of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each team member and coach, applauding their exceptional performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
In further appreciation, three-bedroom apartments were approved for all players and coaching crew, alongside cash rewards of $100,000 (approx. N153 million) for each player and $50,000 (N75.6 million) for each coach.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, represented by its chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, also pledged N10 million to each team member as a token of collective gratitude from all 36 states.
Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, crowned MVP and Woman of the Tournament, led her teammates in presenting the WAFCON trophy to President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, expressing deep appreciation for the recognition.
This marks the fulfilment of Tinubu’s promise made during a video call after the victory, where he had vowed to receive the champions at the V
