Barely days after the death of Ruth, sister of former BBNaija star Phyna, who was fatally injured in a crash involving a Dangote trailer, another tragedy has struck, this time in Enugu State.
Reports indicate that an entire family was crushed to death on Wednesday at four Corner Junction, when their vehicle was hit by a truck allegedly belonging to the Dangote Group.
A viral video circulating on social media shows the mangled remains of a car completely flattened under the weight of the truck. Eyewitnesses at the scene disclosed that all the occupants of the vehicle died on the spot.
The development has reignited anger online, with many Nigerians expressing grief and frustration over the recurring involvement of Dangote trucks in fatal road crashes.
The latest incident comes even as the Dangote management had revealed, following Ruth’s case, that arrangements were being made to fly her abroad for medical treatment before she succumbed to her injuries.
Meanwhile, activist VeryDarkMan has been spearheading a campaign to hold the company accountable, insisting that many Dangote drivers are unlicensed and unfit to be on the highways. It was earlier claimed that the driver who knocked Ruth down did not possess a valid driver’s license.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the police authorities nor the management of the Dangote Group has issued an official statement on the Enugu crash.
