The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hector Ekakita, has denied any involvement in the recent assault on the council’s administrator, Goodluck Iheamnacho.
The incident, which reportedly led to Iheamnacho’s resignation after a purported letter surfaced on social media, prompted the state’s Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, to summon both Ekakita and the administrator’s Chief of Staff on Sunday.
The police condemned the alleged attack, which was captured in a viral video, and claimed it was orchestrated by hoodlums allegedly led by officials close to the LG administrator, namely, the CSO and the Chief of Staff.
Responding on Monday during an interview with Channels TV, Ekakita strongly refuted the accusations.
“There’s no way I would venture into carrying hoodlums to go and attack the man that I’m working with,” he said.
He insisted he was not part of the attack and stated that he does not appear in the viral video.
“The only thing that happened, if you watch the video, is that when I heard a voice from my office, I barged in, but I was asked to shut the door, that the matter was between the sole administrator and his political appointees that he did not pay in the month of May.”
Ekakita further clarified that he did not record any video or mobilize anyone to assault the administrator.
