RITUAL KILLINGS: ENUGU REP DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, OKECHUKWU URGES PARENTS TO HELP TOO, SAYS THE JOB ISN’T MEANT FOR GOVERNMENT ALONE

With the current rise in ritual killing in the country it is fair to say all hands are meant to be on deck to help curb the menace slowly eating into the brains of our young men and destroying our young women.

In a recent talk with the deputy minority leader House of Representatives, and member representing Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River federal constituency, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, he has dissuaded people from thinking that the job of putting a stop to ritual killing in the society is meant only for government.

Speaking to UGAMATV, the lawmaker said “It’s not just government that has to do something about the ritual killing, we all have to do something as parents, influencers, people in government, and as people who engage in social media.

“Sometimes people glamorize it, but the only ritual which you have to do to get money is hard work. When you look at Dangote and other people who are rich like Coscharis they never did any ritual, the ritual they did is that they worked hard and know how to use their brain.

“So our young people who are 20, 18 years who want to get money also have to work hard too or you will be doing it for the rest of your life, and you will not even know how to use it.

“Our own job as people in the government is to make sure we bring it to the attention of the public, and make sure that glamorization stops, but the major job has to be done in our schools, in the churches and in our homes”, Hon. Okechukwu started.
