Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has stirred reactions after issuing strong warnings to Yoruba people over President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
In a recent broadcast, the singer declared that spiritual consequences would befall any Yoruba individual who fails to support Tinubu at the polls. He went as far as invoking curses, stating that thunder and the Yoruba deity Ogun would strike those who vote against the president.
Portable also claimed he had been approached by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to campaign for Tinubu, adding that he had already been given party materials.
“We need peace in Nigeria. If you don’t want war, you should vote for Tinubu,” he said, while hinting at plans to begin campaign activities, including distributing food items such as rice and vegetable oil.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the tone and implications of his statements.
