Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has announced that he will back any political party or candidate that offers him money during the 2027 general election.

 

In a viral video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, the outspoken artiste told his fans that his political endorsement will be for sale to the highest bidder, regardless of party affiliation.

 

“I can’t be campaigning around and be hungry,” Portable said, explaining his decision to tie his support to financial incentives.

 

“My fans, hope your voter’s cards are ready? We will be voting for any candidate that gives us money. Election is starting soon. I’m voting for anyone that gives me money, that can help my life. I’m the owner of my life and my voter’s card. Bring the money and let me help my people; the people are hungry,” he declared.

 

He went further to clarify that his allegiance would be purely transactional: “If it is APC that first brings the money, they will own me. If PDP come first, I will also collect. Even if it is Peter Obi, I will ask you to vote for him. Vote for anyone who gives you money. Vote for your helper.”

 

This is not the first time Portable has openly mixed entertainment with politics. UGAMA TV recalls that in 2024, he publicly called out President Bola Tinubu for failing to give him financial support after he backed Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election campaign.

 

Portable’s latest comments have already stirred reactions on social media, with many critics accusing the singer of promoting vote-buying and undermining Nigeria’s democratic process.
