The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Special Duties, Shafi’u Abubakar Shattiman Zauro, says the people of the state are preparing to drag former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, to court for alleged defamation.
Shafi’u, who disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, was reacting to Malami’s reported allegation that the Kebbi State Government was sponsoring terrorism. He described the claim as reckless and baseless, saying it was aimed at creating tension and disunity among the people.
According to the governor’s aide, Malami has a track record of controversial actions against political associates and rivals, and his latest remarks were consistent with that pattern.
He further alleged that the former AGF had contributed little to Kebbi’s development and was unsettled by the current administration’s achievements under Governor Nasir Idris, particularly the strides in attracting investments in the state’s mining sector.
Shafi’u stressed that the people of Kebbi would not allow such “character assassination” to go unchallenged, revealing that plans were already underway to seek legal redress against Malami in court.
He maintained that Kebbi residents remain united behind the governor and his efforts to foster economic growth, and would resist any attempt to destabilize the state with unfounded accusations.
