The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating former Enugu State governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, as one of Nigeria’s ambassadorial candidates recently transmitted to the Senate for confirmation.
The commendation follows the presidency’s announcement on Saturday confirming that President Tinubu had forwarded a fresh list of ambassadorial nominees to the upper legislative chamber.
Reacting to the development, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, described Ugwuanyi’s inclusion as “well deserved,” noting that the former governor has distinguished himself throughout his public service journey.
Okwu highlighted Ugwuanyi’s record as a three-term member of the House of Representatives, where he chaired key committees with distinction, steering them without controversy or compromise. He further recalled that Ugwuanyi’s tenure as governor of Enugu State was marked by peace, security, and inclusiveness.
“As a bridge builder, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, left behind a legacy of peace. He is a man of the people, widely regarded as ‘Eze Udo’—the king of peace,” Okwu stated.
The Ohanaeze youth leader praised President Tinubu for what he called “a sound and strategic decision,” expressing confidence that Ugwuanyi possesses the temperament and diplomatic finesse required for international representation.
“He has all it takes to excel in an ambassadorial capacity—his charisma, experience, and deep passion for national unity are well known,” Okwu affirmed.
While congratulating Ugwuanyi on his nomination, he expressed optimism that the former governor would impressively scale the Senate screening process, given his legislative background.
“On behalf of Igbo youths, we urge the Senate to approve his nomination without delay. We are proud of him, and we trust fully in his ability to deliver on any national assignment,” he added.
With the screening process now anticipated, many observers say Ugwuanyi’s diplomatic journey may soon begin—carrying with it the goodwill of the South East’s foremost youth body.
