NSCDC deploys 150 personnel in Oyo hotspots

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command, said on Tuesday that it had deployed a total of 150 personnel to hotspots in the state.

The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Iskilu Akinsanya, stated this at the command’s headquarters during a monthly review of the security situation of the state.

Akinsanya said the 150 officers from the NSCDC Counter Terrorist Unit were deployed to support the Agro Ranger Officers in the crisis-ridden areas in order to forestall breakdown of law and order.

He also announced the creation of three additional NSCDC area commands with the existing six commands.

According to Akinsanya, this brings the total number of commands in the state to nine.

A check shows that the three newly created area commands are Area G in Egbeda, Area H in Kishi and Area I in Saki.

“The security of the state is not a government issue, but the collective responsibility of indigenes and residents of Oyo State,” Akinsanya added.

He warned those fanning the ember of violence in the state to desist from such acts, saying anybody caught would be severely dealt with.

The NSCDC boss also cautioned residents against attaching ethnic or religious coloration to crime.
