Kwankwaso Camp Confirms Decision to Leave ADC, Cites Internal Issues

Spokesman to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Habib Saleh Muhammad, has confirmed that the former Kano State governor and his political camp have decided to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal challenges and time constraints ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with NEWSMEN on Sunday, Muhammad said the decision followed wide consultations with stakeholders across local governments.

“Well, I can assure you that we held various discussions here with stakeholders across all local governments of the state, and it was unanimously agreed that we should move out of the ADC,” he said.

He explained that the decision was influenced by what he described as persistent political and legal issues within the party.

“It is because of the continued political, rather legal issues within the party, and also looking at the timeframe and the number of days that we have to submit the register, run a primary election and what have you,” he added.

According to him, internal dynamics within the party also made it difficult for the camp to prepare effectively for the next election cycle.

“It was agreed that we are going to move to a separate platform so that we can actually run and participate effectively in the 2027 election cycle,” Muhammad said.

He further disclosed that an official announcement would soon be made by Kwankwaso himself.
So it’s true. An official position will be made tomorrow by himself, our national leader, and I believe it will take care of your own question,” he stated.
