Nigeria Professional Football League clubs have started preparations for the 2020/21 season, which has been tentatively fixed for September/October.
The League Management Company announced that the new season would start September ending or beginning of October, depending on approval from the government due to COVID-19.
Checks by our correspondent, showed that Plateau United and Enyimba, who will both represent the country in the CAF Champions League, are among the most active clubs in the transfer market.

The Jos-based Plateau have secured the services of Moses Effiong from Dakkada FC, Bashir Andulrahman from Enyimba and former U-20 defender Aliu Salawudeen.
Enyimba signed Hassan Abubakar, Samad Kadiri and Anthony Omaka from Wikki Tourists, Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars respectively.
Another club that has been active in the transfer market is Kwara United, who signed former Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, who returned to the country from Israel. Michael Ohanu (Akwa United), Jide Fatokun (Sunshine) and Afeez Nosiru (Niger Tornadoes), also joined Kwara.
Abia Warriors, who recently secured the services of former U-23 national team coach, Imama Amapakabo, signed goalkeeper Vincent Edafe from Dakkada.
Speaking with our correspondent on the club’s plans for the new season, Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency, owners of Sunshine Stars, Tajudeen Akinyemi, said the club had identified players they needed for the incoming season.
“Unlike last season when we brought in up to 43 players, this season won’t be like that. We have identified about 20-25 players we intend to sign and we will go after them. Then, we will add five players from our feeder team – Rising Stars – and that will be all,” Akinyemi said.
