Senator Ike Ekweremadu has been known in Enugu for years as the man of the people which is no wonder he served as the Deputy President of the Senate for 12 years, and also being a senator for 19 years, a feat which is yet to be seen in any other politician in the federation.
Therefore it was not a thing of surprise as the apolitical group in Nigeria, Ndi Oganiru Enugu state decided to give him their support and blessings on his mission to be the next governor of Enugu state.
The group made this known on the 6th of February during their conferment of patronship on a group of men and women in the state and launching of their new uniform which took place at Admiral Resort, Enugu.
Thanking the executives of the group for deeming him fit for their support he said “I am very impressed with all that is going on here today. I thank everyone who put this together and all our new patrons, I also say congratulations.
“I believe we all we can deliver a new Enugu state. I also thank our governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who has agreed to be the grand patron of this our organization. I’ve known him for over 30 years as we knew when we were still in private sector before we joined the public sector”, he said.
Telling the people about his plans for the new Enugu, he added that “We are not here to tell you what will happen when I become the governor in 2023. A day is coming when I will gather all of you to tell you about the new Enugu state that is coming, but I can tell you that come 2023 there will be something different about enugu state.
“We will tell you how we are going to deliver the high ways that is going to connect Enugu and other states. We are going to tell you how we are going to deliver the beltway.
“We will tell you how we are going to provide at least 2 industries in every local government. We will tell you how we are going to provide jobs with agriculture. A new enugu state is coming”, he said concluding.
