The Eboma family of Idumu-Oza Community in Agbor Kingdom has demanded justice following the tragic death of their daughter, Etunim Henrieta Ebere Sunday (née Eboma), a mother of three.
In an interview with Ika Newspaper, the family patriarch, Mr. Friday Eboma, expressed profound grief and alleged that Etunim endured prolonged domestic abuse from her husband, Mr. Ebere Sunday, an indigene of Alisimie, Agbor.
“Ebere Sunday beat Etunim to death so he could marry another woman he claimed was pregnant for him,” Eboma stated. “It was only after her death that we learned she had suffered repeated and severe beatings throughout her marriage, ultimately leading to her untimely death.”
The family recounted that the last incident occurred on January 23, 2026, when, according to her children, Ebere Sunday locked Etunim inside their home and beat her with a Lister generator belt. She was rushed to the General Hospital, Agbor, for treatment, but remained ill until she passed away on March 24, 2026.
“The family of Ebere has attempted to intervene, but we will not accept any reconciliation. He must come with his relatives to explain the circumstances that caused our daughter’s death,” Mr. Eboma added. He recalled that Ebere, a carpenter, met Etunim during the Idumu-Oza road construction and persistently courted her.
Her children confirmed that their father frequently beat their mother, both at home and even at her shop on Imudia Street, Agbor.
Etunim’s younger sister, Blessing, who traveled from Lagos after receiving a distress call, described the late mother as living in constant fear and trauma due to her husband’s abuse.
The Eboma family has vowed that Ebere Sunday will be held accountable for killing Etunim and has called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
Attempts to reach Ebere Sunday for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
