Bayelsa: 20-Year-Old Shot Dead by Cultists’ Stray Bullet While Returning from Church

A 20-year-old woman, identified only as Blessing, has been killed by a stray bullet in the Amassoma area of Bayelsa State.

Reports indicate that suspected cultists had attacked a laundry shop in the area targeting a man. The intended victim reportedly saw the assailants and tried to flee, prompting the gunmen to open fire. A stray bullet missed the fleeing man and struck Blessing, who was returning from church at the time.

Confirming the incident, the Bayelsa State Police Command spokesperson, Musa Muhammed, stated that the victim was rushed to a hospital but later died. He added that the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
