MACBAN Commends President Tinubu’s Visit to Benue, Calls for Peaceful Coexistence

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely visit to Benue State amid recent violent attacks in the region.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, MACBAN’s National President, Alhaji Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, described Tinubu’s intervention as courageous and essential to restoring peace.

“We wish to thank President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his intervention and timely visit to Benue. We also commend his call on political and traditional leaders in the state to pursue peaceful coexistence,” Othman-Ngelzarma said.

He expressed hope that the President’s visit would help bring lasting peace not only to Benue but to the entire country. He also appreciated the Federal Government and security agencies for their swift efforts to restore normalcy in the affected communities.

MACBAN extended condolences to the people of Benue State, the Federal Government, and all Nigerians over the tragic loss of lives and destruction of property.

“As the umbrella body for Fulani cattle breeders in Nigeria, MACBAN is committed to the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of Nigeria’s more than 300 ethnic groups,” the statement added.

Othman-Ngelzarma emphasized that herders are key contributors to Nigeria’s economy and have a vested interest in national unity and peace.

He urged political, traditional, religious, and community leaders in Benue and beyond to promote dialogue and reject divisive narratives that threaten peaceful relations between farming and herding communities.
