The Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Igwe C.A.O. Muoghalu, known as Isu Nk’Ibua n’Isuofia.
The announcement was made in a statement dated April 16, 2026, by the community’s traditional prime minister (Onowu), Ndubuisi Osele, who formally informed indigenes of the monarch’s passing.
According to the statement, governance and daily affairs of the community will continue uninterrupted during this transition period. Community members seeking guidance on matters relating to the traditional institution have been advised to contact the Palace Secretary.
The Onowu noted that the development has triggered constitutional procedures in line with Section 76 of the Constitution of the Isuofia People’s Assembly, mandating that the Executive Council take necessary steps regarding the royal transition.
He urged the council to strictly follow laid-down constitutional provisions in handling the succession process, ensuring order and respect for the community’s customs.
The statement also reassured residents that the palace remains open and accessible, encouraging indigenes to direct enquiries or concerns through the appropriate channels.
It concluded with a call for unity, wisdom, and adherence to tradition as the community navigates this solemn period.
