Four young children have been fatally stabbed in a shocking attack at a school in Kampala, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Programme School, located in the Makindye Division of the city. Police confirmed that a 34-year-old suspect has been taken into custody, while investigations into the motive are ongoing.
In a brief statement, the Uganda Police Force said crime scene investigators have been deployed, adding that more information will be released as inquiries progress.
Senior officials, including Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba, visited the scene and received updates on the situation.
Local reports suggest the attacker allegedly gained access to the school by posing as a parent before launching the assault. The victims, believed to be between the ages of two and three, were reportedly attacked after the suspect engaged with school staff.
Disturbing videos circulating on social media show large crowds of distressed residents gathered at the scene.
According to local journalist Erich Mboowa, the suspect was swiftly apprehended by authorities to prevent an angry mob from attacking him.
Investigations remain ongoing as the community grapples with the tragic loss.
