Awgu, Enugu State — The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uche Okolo, has declared that Awgu is fully committed to mobilizing massively for the ongoing voter registration exercise in readiness for the 2027 general elections and in total support of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s re-election bid.
He made this statement today, Thursday, September 11, 2025, during the visit of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu State Chairman, Sir Dr. Martins Chukwunwike, who led members of the State Working Committee and party executives on a sensitization tour to Awgu Local Government Headquarters. The visit was part of the PDP’s statewide grassroots mobilization drive for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continuous voter registration exercise.
Welcoming the visitors, Hon. Okolo hailed Governor Mbah’s transformative leadership, describing it as a model of innovation and excellence across all sectors of Enugu State. He also highlighted the One Ward, One Kilometer Road Project across Awgu’s eleven wards, the recently flagged-off 3.5-kilometer Awgu–Ugwueme Road, and the 4-kilometer access road to the Agbogugu Smart Green School as part of his administration’s achievements.
“We are complementing the efforts of our dear Governor Mbah by ensuring that development reaches every community in Awgu. Beyond infrastructure, we are mobilizing our people massively for the ongoing voter registration, because Awgu is determined to record the highest number of newly registered voters in Enugu State in preparation for 2027,” Hon. Okolo said.
In their remarks, Dr. Chukwunwike and other PDP state executives lauded Hon. Okolo’s proactive leadership, his strides in grassroots mobilization, and his beautification of the Awgu Council Secretariat.
