Highlife Legend Bright Chimezie Joins Sony Music West Africa, Weeks After Meeting Davido

Veteran highlife icon Bright Chimezie has officially joined Sony Music Publishing (SMP) West Africa, just two weeks after his widely publicized meeting with Afrobeats superstar Davido.

The announcement was made over the weekend via SMP West Africa’s official Instagram page. In a post celebrating the music legend, the label wrote:

“SMP is honored to announce the introduction of the Legendary and extraordinary Bright Chimezie into the family. The creator of the Zigma sound has joined Sony Music Publishing West Africa.”

This major move comes shortly after Davido acknowledged that Chimezie’s album inspired his hit track “With You” featuring Omah Lay. The two artistes met in May, sparking public excitement over the generational music connection.

Interestingly, the news also follows a revelation by Mayorkun, Davido’s former signee, who recently credited Davido for helping him land his own deal with Sony Music, further highlighting the superstar’s behind-the-scenes influence.
