Gunmen Abduct Prominent Anambra Businessman, Son of APGA Women Leader

Unknown gunmen have abducted Ifesinachi Onyekere, a well-known businessman and son of the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Anambra State.

The victim, who serves as the Managing Director of Fish Magnet, was reportedly attacked around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno community, near Awka.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the assailants, who arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, forcefully entered the compound, shot Onyekere in the leg, and abducted him using his own navy blue Toyota Corolla. The vehicle’s registration number has not yet been identified.

Sources said the kidnappers fled through bush paths toward Nawfia, raising fear and tension among local residents.

In response, local vigilantes and security watch teams have launched a search effort, tracking the victim’s mobile phone and working to establish contact with the abductors.

As of the time of this report, Onyekere’s whereabouts remain unknown. Family members have urged the public to remain calm and are appealing to anyone with credible information to assist security authorities in locating him.
