ENUGU — The Deputy Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto PhD, has formally declared himself leader of the Village Boys Movement in Enugu State, emphasizing the decisive role of grassroots mobilization in Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a statement posted on his verified social media platforms, Ezediuto aligned the movement with the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, signaling growing rural political coordination ahead of future electoral contests.
Speaking on the rising prominence of the City Boys Movement online, the Awgu deputy chairman said heightened digital conversations around political groups often reflect influence rather than irrelevance. According to him, public debate typically follows movements perceived to be shaping political direction or challenging established interests.
He noted that while urban personalities such as businessman Obi Cubana and nightlife promoter Cubana Chief Priest have amplified city-based political narratives, the real electoral strength, he argued, remains rooted in local communities.
Ezediuto stressed that village networks serve as mobilizers, voters, and custodians of political structures, insisting that grassroots engagement ultimately determines electoral outcomes despite trends driven by urban social media influence.
Political observers say the declaration could deepen conversations around evolving campaign strategies in Enugu, particularly the balance between digital visibility and traditional grassroots organization as parties position for future elections.
