The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a fresh increase in the cost of obtaining international passports, with the new rates set to take effect from September 1, 2024.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced the upward review on Thursday through its spokesman, A.S. Akinlabi.
According to the NIS, the increment is intended to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, which will officially come into force on September 1, 2025.
Under the new pricing structure, applicants in Nigeria will now pay:
₦100,000 for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity.
₦200,000 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.
However, passport application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at:
$150 for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity.
$230 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.
The NIS stressed that the adjustment applies only to applications processed within Nigeria, assuring that it remains committed to balancing quality service delivery with accessibility for all citizens.
This marks the second review in two years, following a similar increment announced in August 2023.
