The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said President Bola Tinubu should leave office in 2027, arguing that the country needs new leadership.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude, Obi maintained that he is not driven by a personal ambition to become president but by a desire to see Nigeria function effectively.
He accused the Tinubu administration of worsening poverty and insecurity, claiming that the number of Nigerians living in poverty has increased significantly since the President assumed office.
Obi also alleged that many business owners who were previously successful have been forced into menial trading to survive due to the country’s economic challenges.
Questioning the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, Obi argued that poor governance cannot be rewarded with another term, insisting that leadership should be judged by its performance and impact on citizens’ lives.
