Enugu West Unites: Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu, Mbah for Second Term, Donates N100M for Nomination.

 

A large political gathering in Enugu State has seen stakeholders from the Enugu West Senatorial District unanimously endorse Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The endorsement was announced during a mega rally held at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters, on Saturday the 18th of April 2026, drawing, attendance from political stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional rulers, youth and women groups, as well as party faithful.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, who spoke on behalf of Enugu West council chairmen, expressed gratitude for the turnout and reaffirmed the zone’s support for the re-election of both leaders.

Similarly, Chairman of the organising committee, Dr. C.O.C. Egumgbe, alongside Co-Chairman, Senator Ben-Collins Ndu, said the endorsement reflected a collective decision by the people of Enugu West, citing the governor’s fulfillment of campaign promises and performance in office.

 

At the heart of the event lies the formal endorsement ceremony, presided over by the Distinguished Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Ngwu, who served as President.

Presiding over the Endorsement, Ngwu stated that the decision was driven by the visible progress made across the district, particularly in infrastructure and development projects. He noted that all five local government areas in the zone—Aninri, Awgu, Ezeagu, Oji River, and Udi—had agreed to support Mbah’s re-election bid.

“We are not here by accident but by conviction. We have seen leadership in action and real progress,” Ngwu said.

In an unprecedented show of support, the stakeholders at the rally also announced a donation of ₦100 million to assist the governor in purchasing his nomination form.

The motion to endorse Governor Mbah was moved by the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu, and seconded by Hon. Ede Magnus.

Similarly, the endorsement of President Tinubu was moved by Hon. Sunday Umeha

Hon. Toby Okechukwu, Director of Projects at the South East Development Commission, who seconded the motion for Tinubu’s reelection, commended the governor’s developmental strides while describing the endorsement as well-deserved.

In response, Governor Mbah described the endorsement as “massive and historic,” thanking the people of Enugu West for their confidence in his administration. He reiterated his commitment to economic growth, poverty reduction, and infrastructure development, while acknowledging federal support for ongoing projects in the state.

Gov. Mbah commended the people of the zone for upholding the legacy of their forebears, describing their actions as a reflection of courage, unity, and a shared commitment to justice.

“You’ve shown that you cannot stand on the margins, and you cannot stand on the sidelines,” the governor said.

Gov.Mbah recalled that the journey to the present moment began five years ago at the same venue, emphasising how communities came together to support a vision for Enugu State.

Also speaking, the Enugu State Chairman of the APC, Mr. Martin Chukwunweike, pledged the party’s backing for Mbah’s second-term bid, citing his achievements in office.

Other speakers, including members of the Enugu State Executive Council led by Chief of Staff Barr. Victor Uzoma Ude, federal appointees led by Ozo Obougo, youth representatives led by Lloyd Ekweremmadu, and APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Ben Nwoye, amongst others.all expressing strong support for both Governor Mbah and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

The rally ended on a note of unity and political solidarity, with leaders and supporters reaffirming their collective resolve to sustain what they described as a trajectory of growth and development in Enugu State.

The endorsement signals a strong early alignment within the Enugu West Senatorial District, positioning both Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and Bola Ahmed Tinubu for continued political support as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
