“Excellence Rewarded: Chairman Okolo Salutes Gov. Peter Mbah’s Double Honours, Ignites Fresh Momentum for Enugu’s Transformation”

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has congratulated the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, on his outstanding achievement at the Independent Newspaper Silver Jubilee Awards, where he clinched two prestigious honours in recognition of his transformative leadership.

Governor Mbah emerged as one of the biggest winners at the high-profile event, securing the Outstanding Governor of the Year and Financial Architect Governor of the Year awards. The ceremony, organised by the Independent Newspaper Group in Lagos, attracted top political, business, and socio-economic stakeholders from across the country.

In a congratulatory statement, Hon. Okolo described the double honours as a “well-deserved recognition of visionary leadership, bold reforms, and an unwavering commitment to repositioning Enugu State for sustainable growth.”

He noted that the governor’s strides in economic transformation, infrastructural development, and innovative governance have not only redefined public service delivery but also elevated Enugu’s profile as a model of excellence nationwide.

“Your emergence as a double award recipient among 36 governors is a clear testament to the impactful leadership you have demonstrated. These honours reflect the tangible progress and results-driven governance that Ndi Enugu are proud of,” Okolo stated.

The Awgu Council boss further highlighted the remarkable growth in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, which rose significantly under Mbah’s administration, describing it as evidence of sound financial engineering and strategic resource management.

Hon. Okolo reaffirmed the support and solidarity of the people of Awgu Local Government Area, expressing confidence that the recognition would spur the governor to sustain and even surpass his current achievements.

“As a grassroots government, we are inspired by your example and remain committed to aligning with your vision to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community, including the rural areas,” he added.

Governor Mbah had, during the award ceremony, expressed gratitude to Nigerians and stakeholders, dedicating the honours to the people of Enugu State while reiterating his commitment to transparency, innovation, and measurable development outcomes.

Hon. Okolo concluded by wishing the governor continued success, noting that the awards signal a new era of excellence and greater expectations for governance in Enugu State.
